Whitelist [ALLOW]

The CF "Whitelist [ALLOW]" Tool is meant for removing sites that might be blocked by ConFetch's imported source lists, the next time you run ConFetch. If you need to block more sites that aren't already listed within ConFetch you should use the Blacklist [DENY] tool. If you want to quickly and permanently unblock a site you need to view often, try the CF UNBLOCK Tool for that. These tools are all available from the program's icon group: select Start, select (All) Programs, select ConFetch PRO, select ConFetch Tools to find them.

Using the Whitelist Tool is easy if you follow a few simple tips. If you aren't in a hurry and want to unblock (allow) a site to be viewed that is blocked by ConFetch, just use the Whitelist [ALLOW] icon to open the file with Notepad and use normal domain name format like in the following example:

forums.treewalkdns.com
godaddy.com
google.com
ntcanuck.com
secureserver.net
treewalk.net
treewalkdns.com
w3.org
windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Of course, none of the sites above are actually blocked by ConFetch and they are used here as examples only. The changes will be implemented the next time you run ConFetch. If you are in a hurry, use the CF UNBLOCK Tool to open the Whitelist and place your entries in that way. It will remove exact matches from your filter.conf blocking file and restart TreeWalk for you. Then you should be able to access the previously blocked site right away without quitting TreeWalk, provided that you have entered the domain name correctly.

ConFetch can remove some characters, duplicates, protocols, blank lines, et cetera but you should always use the format that the TreeWalk name daemon requires. Whitelisting with ConFetch means that you will need to enter an exact match to the entry in the blocking file (filter.conf) that is causing you not to be able to view a site. If you're not sure, you could paste this into a "Run..." box (accessible by selecting Start, then selecting "Run..."):

notepad %systemroot%\system32\dns\etc\filter.conf

...then use the "Edit" menu in Notepad to "Find" the domain name you want to remove, confirming that it actually exists in "filter.conf".

The Whitelist [ALLOW] Tool may be developed to search filter.conf and confirm or reject exact matches for you in a future version.

Be careful not to use an exact duplicate entry in both the Whitelist [ALLOW] and Blacklist [DENY] files at the same time. The Blacklist entry will override the Whitelist entry in that situation, and the site will be inaccessible until it is removed from the Blacklist file.

((If you don't want your email info stored on the server, just mention in the message body that you'd like it deleted after the attachment has been saved.))
